Tips for Easy-Breezy Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning is generally time-consuming, and you should put in a lot of effort if you want to do it well. But with these simple steps and the right mindset, you’ll be able to do the cleaning more accessible, quicker and stress-free. So the first question here is where to start from.

Cleaning From Top to Bottom

You should make a schedule for the cleaning and do it systematically. Don’t try to do it all in a single day. Instead, stop when you’ve had enough work done for the day. Go from room to room and make a to-do list of the tasks which need to be done. After that, remove all the spiderwebs, take down the curtains, and wash them. Wash the walls and the windows as well. You can use a sponge mop and any cleaning solution for the walls. You can use a microfiber towel and some window cleaning spray for the windows.

One Room at a Time

If you start cleaning more than one room at a time, you will probably be distracted by the things you want to return to their places. Furthermore, by cleaning the rooms one by one, you’ll be able to see your progress, and you won’t feel you made an even bigger mess than before. Put all of your cleaning supplies in a basket or a box. That way, you’ll have everything you need at hand.

Do It The Smart Way

Organise storage cabinets and bookshelves. While at it, don’t forget to clean the books from the dust and thoroughly clean the shelves before putting them back. Dust and vacuum all surfaces in the house, including the floors under the furniture. If you want to make it easier, use all vacuuming attachments at your disposal, as each has its purpose. You’ll be surprised how effortless cleaning would be thanks to them. Vacuum both sides of your carpets and the floor under them! Don’t cheat; many germs are hiding in your carpeting, and you should thoroughly clean them. After vacuuming the floor, mop it with floor cleaner for shining results.

Don’t Skip Decluttering

Spring cleaning is the perfect chance to declutter and organise your home. First, get rid of any items you no longer need, use or love. Then, you can donate them to a local charity, sell them online, or have a yard sale. By doing this, you’ll not only create more space but also reduce the amount of dust and clutter in your home.

Don’t forget the outside

While cleaning your home’s interior, don’t forget about the exterior. First, wash your porch, patio, and outdoor furniture. Next, sweep the driveway, and remove any debris from your yard. Finally, clean the windows and screens outside your home, and power wash the siding to remove any dirt and grime built up over the winter.

Clean Your Appliances

Cleaning your appliances is an integral part of spring cleaning. Clean your refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, and washing machine. Check the filters on your kitchen appliances and replace them if necessary. This will not only improve their performance but also make them last longer.

Organising Your Closet

Spring is the perfect time to organise your closet. Remove any clothes you no longer wear, and organise your remaining clothes by category, colour or season. You can use storage bins or baskets to store items out of season.

Clean Your Bedding

Wash your pillows, comforters, and blankets. Next, vacuum your mattress, and flip it over. Here’s a handy tip – sprinkle baking soda over the bed before vacuuming it. The baking soda will absorb any odours and deodorise your mattress. It will not only make your bedding smell fresh but also help reduce any allergens.

Clean Your Air Ducts

Spring is a suitable time to clean your air ducts. Dust and debris can clog your air ducts over time, which can cause allergies and other health problems. It’s also an essential part of air conditioner maintenance. If you don’t know how to clean them, consider hiring professionals to do it for you.

Make it Fun

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a tedious chore. Turn up the music, invite friends, and make it a party. Make a game out of it, and see who can clean the most in a set amount of time. This way, you can make the cleaning go faster and more enjoyable.

Use Natural Cleaning Products

It’s always better to use natural cleaning products as they are better for the environment and your health. Unfortunately, many popular cleaning products contain toxic chemicals that can cause allergies and other health problems. Instead, use eco-friendly cleaning products such as vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice.
