LED stands for light-emitting diode. It is all the rage nowadays for its energy-saving characteristics. LED lights like NextLight MEGA LED light because of their efficiency, are very famous as it helps lower utility bills. They are sold both in stores and online.
Obviously, LED technology presents a radical change in the lighting industry. But how does it differ from its traditional alternatives, and why does it surpass traditional incandescent lights and CFL’s?
Why Choose LED Over Its Counterparts
ENERGY-EFFICIENT. Compared to its incandescent and compact fluorescent lightbulbs(CFL) counterparts, LED’s utilize more or less 75% less energy. This is because light that LED bulbs emit are targeted in one direction, unlike other lighting options, where the light is scattered in all directions.
LONGER LIFE SPAN. While the life span of an average CFL is roughly 8,000 hours, and incandescent bulbs last for more or less 1,200 hours, an LED bulb’s average life span is at least 50,000 hours, making it a very good investment.
LOWERS UTILITY BILLS. Since per unit of light generated by an LED bulb uses less power than a traditional light bulb, it helps in significantly reducing your power bills.
MORE EARTH-FRIENDLY. Other lighting options contain mercury, which is highly toxic and extremely detrimental to your health and harmful to the environment. LED lights, on the other hand, are 100% recyclable and do not contain toxic materials, making it helpful in significantly reducing carbon footprints. These bulbs also release less carbon dioxide, sulfur oxide and nuclear waste than incandescent bulbs.
FLEXIBLE IN DESIGN AND COLOR. LED light bulbs may be made in different shapes and designs. Although a LED bulb need not be made into a standard bulb shape, manufacturers choose to do so, anyway so it is easier to change bulbs in typical lamps. Their light, color and distribution may be controlled remotely or via timers. You may also use the internet or your WLAN at home. You may create lighting effects by manipulating these elements in LED technology.
Cost of Light Bulbs
light bulbs are relatively more expensive than other lighting alternatives. The cost is about 2 to 6 times higher than CFL’s and incandescents, depending on how big and what brand you’re buying, and this may turn off any buyer. But if you think about long-term expenses, lights are the more affordable choice. For the time being, bulbs definitely cost more. However, quality is improving and production is increasing, so people can expect a drop in its cost in the future.
Choose lighting, not only for your sake but for the world’s.
