How To Take Care Of Your Granite Using Different Polishing Options

Granite is considered a first-class building material and stands out for both beauty and longevity. Whether you are considering it for the countertops or flooring, granite is one of the best materials to use, and it stands out among many. It gives your floor or countertops a gorgeous finish that makes your house look beautiful while increasing its curb appeal. However, it will wear out with time without maintaining it well, and if you do nothing about it, it will lose its gorgeous look. It will begin looking dull and scratched. That is why it is essential to know how best to take care of it to maintain it so that it can continue giving that stunning look all the time.

Polishing Options

Here are granite polishing/Granite Polish options and techniques that you need to know. They will help you take care of your granite finish and keep your home outstanding. There are two different polishing options that you can use to maintain your granite material. They are both practical, and the one you choose will depend on your preference. It will also need you to have the right understanding of how they will help you in maintaining your granite. You can opt for dry granite polishing or wet granite polishing. Dry granite polishing powder is less costly than the paste, and it can be used when dry or as a paste. However, wet polishing will require you to prepare yourself before applying it. You will need to cover the walls with plastic materials and wear a water-resistant material to protect you from the wet polish. Also, wet polishing pads are less expensive, and the wet polish cools them to prevent them from becoming excessively hot. Excessive heat can be a cause of making them wear faster.

Granite Sealing

Once you polish your granite, it is important to seal it to maintain the sparkle and protect it from stains. Before sealing your granite, you will need to know the right products to use and process that will ensure a successful project. Most professionals will advise you to use a penetrating sealer to offer the best protection to the granite. Using an impregnating granite sealer will protect it against juice, water, oil, and other staining products. Before applying the sealer, it is necessary to clean the surface and allow it time to dry. That will ensure the sealer sticks well and serves you for a long time. Before choosing the sealer, it is important to consider the stone’s original color to maintain it by choosing the sealer’s right color. If you polish and seal the granite correctly, it will serve you for a long time. Some homeowners prefer DIY projects when it comes to polishing and sealing their granite. If you prefer doing it yourself, you need to look for the right polishing tools. However, if you are not sure what the process entails, it is better to have an expert do the job. That is the only way you can be sure that you will not be disappointed with the project.
