5 Smart and Cool Ways to Style your Small Bedroom
Being small does not mean that something is insignificant. It’s the perspective that counts and will always be the determining factor. Your imagination is responsible for whatever masterpiece you can come up with and believe me, nothing is off limits, and nothing is described as impossible. Time is on your side, and actually, it doesn’t matter how long you think about it or plan for it, what’s important is that your grand design will bring out your emotions and express your inner thoughts that have been hidden in the bottomless pit that you call the inner you.
I recently discovered this when I was given the task of styling small bedrooms. It was a challenge for me since I was a space freak before. Less space means less chances of styling for me, but that all changed when I sat down with a cup of coffee and thought about it. The key to this situation is reassessing what you have and what you can do about it, not dwelling beneath the obstacles. As an interior designer, everything must be possible, because if not, then everything will just be a waste of time. So if you have a small bedroom that you want to look cool and smart, here are a few suggestions that might help calm your mind and be at ease with your place of rest and relaxation.
-
Against the Corner, Bed!
This is one thing that I realized, the bed must stay in the corner, why you ask? Because it takes up too much space in the middle, and there is nothing wrong if its all the way in the corner. This technique will give you more space for other things like drawers, cabinets, and other furniture that you might need. Plus, you don’t have to worry about falling on the other side.
-
Mirror Power
The eye is an easy organ to trick, that is why I recommend to use mirrors so that you can make your bedroom bigger! Mirrors actually magnify images, meaning, they can trick the eye into thinking that a certain space is twice the size! Cool trick right? So start putting a mirror or two!
-
Sweet Essentials
Another trick is getting only what you need. A furniture or two is enough but sometimes, overcrowding your bedroom with stuff that you don’t actually need will make it look like a bedspace instead of a bedroom. So before you clog it up with stuff, be sure to analyze what you really need.
-
Wall plus Paper = Wallpaper
Wallpapers are really good in firing up a small bedroom. It gives life, color and attitude to a room and will definitely bring out your artistic side and describe your personality. Small doesn’t mean that it should be lifeless, it should be perceived as a chance to give life instead.
-
Float them Shelves
Lastly, I suggest you get floating shelves and have them installed. These pieces of wood actually saves a lot of space. You can out your books, toys, and other essentials on top of them and can pretty much have them installed anywhere, just make sure that they are within reach.
