Next Steps
Once you have the schooling and licensing completed, you are ready to start a new career. Most states require you to work underneath of a broker. This can vary, but most likely you will need to be hired by an established real estate company in order to sell real estate.
If you thought that passing the real estate exam was the hardest part you are probably really wrong. There is still a lot more that goes into becoming successful, especially in a big city. You are going to have to start the process of building connections and networking. You can not be a very successful real estate agent without a solid flow of connections.
While you can sell homes of the people who walk into the office and ask for a realtor without building a great network, doing things with that mentality is not going to help you become a very successful agent who does very well financially for themselves. You are going to have to be in your potential clients minds before they decide it is time to use your services.
The better the connection, the better the business you are going to get. If you can connect with people who are active in real estate investing, you are going to be successful. Once you start the network, it will continue to grow as you do your job well for your clients and they share your information with other people and friends.
